14 years as a CNA on various oncology units left her emotionally incapacitated. Xenia’s life had been lived around dying people for much too long and it had taken its toll. She left her job in hopes of keeping her mental health intact, or what was left of it. Certainly she could find work in a less emotionally taxing profession.
But before she could secure a new job, the house she had rented sold out from under her and her 14 year old son. And the Southern Nevada rental market had become hostile territory to navigate with double and triple rents prevailing over those of just a few years ago.
Unbeknownst to her, HopeLink could have been her first hope instead of her last. Nonetheless, she was connected to the HopeLink employment specialist for assessment of her transferable skills and provided many job options, among which was an online CNA position which can be worked from home, a perfect match for her needs.
Meanwhile, HopeLink is working to secure shelter for she and her son until she’s hired with a stable income and a new start for her family.
